Hello, children!

Are you ready for a challenge? Click on the following to see how much you have learnt from our Big Book lesson!

As promised, here’s the list of websites and videos that we have watched in class:

Enjoy! 🙂

Oral Reading

Dear children,

You are strongly encouraged to listen to the song/story “We are Going on a Bear Hunt” (Click on the title to see the video). The man that you see in the video is the author Michael Rosen. Pay attention to the way that he tells the story.

  • How does he read and pronounce the words? Is it expressive?
  • Are the ending sounds pronounced clearly?
  • What happens when there’s a question mark (?) or an exclamation mark (!) at the end of a sentence?

Do continue to practise your oral reading everyday. You may record your reading using a handphone. You may also ask your parents or siblings to listen to you as you read aloud any passage.

Have a good weekend ahead!

Dear children,

Do try these games!

Maths: Shapes and Patterns

Health Education: Healthy Kids Card

Dear children,

Do encourage your parents or guardians to take part in the Healthy Kids @ EDP project. You may get them to sign on one of the eight pictures every time you complete each activity. The eight pictures are those that you have marked out yesterday. Please note that this project will be used for your Health Education SA 2 assessment.

Do bring the card to school everyday so that it will be easier for you to earn more stamps. Remember that you are responsible for keeping the card safely.  If you have any questions about it, please approach me. Thank you.

Poetry Lesson: Sounds

On Monday, 2I children created their own poem on sounds. This was an extension activity based on the big book (The Growl) that the class was reading. The pupils were brought on a tour around the school and were asked to listen carefully to the sounds that they could hear. After that, they sat at the tables outside the library to create their poem. The children were told to be as creative as possible when coming up with the sound words. They were encouraged to invent their own spelling for the sounds they heard.

What do you hear, children?

Deep in their thoughts

Grammar Lesson: Past Continuous Tense

2I children learnt about past continuous tense during the English lesson today. To get them to practise using the grammar item in a fun and engaging manner, they were asked to play charades. Every group took turns to act out an action and the other children could only open their eyes when they heard the bell ring once. After that, they had to guess what that action was by forming sentences that made use of the tense. It was clear that everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously. Even the quieter pupils were eager to share their anwsers!

Can you guess what they were trying to do?

It's time to share your answers!

P2 Sports Meet

Although 2I did not manage to catch a glimpse of the YOG Flame on Wednesday (11 August), it was still a memorable day for all as the P1 & P2 Sports Meet was also held on that day. It was clear that the children had lots of fun participating in the events. They cheered loudly for their classmates and also their 1I schoolmates during the sports meet. At the end of the day, every child in 2I went home happily with a medal/token as well as the simple multilingual cheer that they had been taught last Friday.
Let the pictures say the thousand wordsEnjoy (:

National Day Celebrations

On 6 August 2010, Endeavour Primary had its National Day celebrations. All 2I pupils attended school dressed in red and white. However, this year’s celebrations was different from previous years. Instead of singing songs, an emergency training exercise was held at the community-based level. The whole exercise took place not long after the second recess and ended at about 11.45am. Pupils even had time for a quick snack before dismissal time.

Here are some pictures.

Happy birthday, Singapore!
